Frequently Asked Grab Hire Questions
Please find answers to the most frequently asked questions below.
How much access does a grab lorry need?
The Grab lorry needs at least 11.5ft in width for access. Also consider if there are any cables or low hanging trees over the area which the lorry will need to go as they need at least 6m in headroom to operate the crane. If access to site is off a single track road or if you are unsure about having sufficient side loading space, please call for advise or to arrange a visit to the site.
What material can your grab lorries take?
Our grab lorries are generally used for collection of inert material such as excavation arisings, soil, hardcore, bricks and green waste. Whilst we accept general mixed builders waste, environmental legislation restricts these waste types within our grab lorries: asbestos, computer monitors, televisions, aerosols, gas canisters, paint cans, fridges or freezers. We are also unable to accept turf at this moment in time. Please contact us for further information or if you have any further questions.
When can your grab lorry arrive?
Our delivery and collection times are Monday to Friday 7:00 to 17:30. Although we cannot accept specific delivery and collection times, we will try our best to do so. Please leave any specific requests in the ‘Additional Notes’ section of the order form.
How can I pay for my grab hire?
Payment including VAT is payable on line or via the telephone.
What happens to the waste once the grab lorry has been?
The waste is transported to one of our licensed recycling facilities, where it is screened to recover all recyclable materials. We send the minimum amount of waste to landfill.
How do I know why waste will not be fly tipped?
Raymond Brown Grab Hire (part of Raymond Brown Minerals & Recycling Ltd) possess a valid Waste Carrier License and operate licensed recycling facilities that are strictly monitored and controlled by the Environment Agency.
